Cat Rodney

President

Hi everyone! I’m Cat and I’m a senior from Simsbury, CT. I’m majoring in actuarial science & finance and I interned at MassMutual and will be working full time at Oliver Wyman doing actuarial consulting. I chose actuarial science because I love the mix of math and business, and the amazing versatile skill set you gain. I’ve been CAO and Director of Social Media in the past, and I have been loving being president! Outside of UAS, I am involved in a sorority and I work at the cafes on campus, and outside of school, I love going to the gym, surfing and longboarding, and hanging with friends.

UAS has truly been the best part of my college experience; it’s given me friends for life, professional resources to prepare me for my interviews that ultimately helped me land jobs, fun social events and so so so much more. UAS is truly the most amazing community, and I highly recommend that you join! Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

This past summer I was an intern at Milliman’s Hartford Health office, where I spent a lot of my time using Excel and SAS to analyze prescription drugs used in PACE programs around the country. Mike Majewski

Co-Vice President of Social Events

Hey there! I’m Mike Majewski, I’m from West Hartford, and I’m a senior majoring in Actuarial/Finance. UConn has the best actuarial program anywhere, being a student here is such a great opportunity to meet a TON of intelligent and ambitious aspiring actuaries. The best connections I have made have been students who go on to graduate and work at top insurance/consulting companies. Coming to UAS will make UConn feel smaller since you will get to know many of the students in the actuarial program. Outside of UAS, I’m also involved in the Sigma Chi Fraternity, as well as the investment banking society. My advice to a freshman would be to explore everything UConn has to offer, you don’t know what could be out there until you try it!

I’ve always enjoyed math, so once I discovered actuarial science and its high demand in the health insurance industry, I knew this was the major for me. Last summer, I had a blast interning at Point32Health (the product of a merge between Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare and Tufts Health Plan) and I’m very grateful for this experience. In my free time, I love going to the gym, traveling, and making memories with friends and family. Feel free to reach out if you have any question, or just want to chat!

Eli Braman

Co-Director of Fundraising

I am currently a Junior studying actuarial science at the University of Connecticut. I grew up in a small town in upstate New York known as Utica. I decided to go to school out of state at UConn because of their phenomenal actuarial science program. I chose to study actuarial science because I have a passion and appreciation for mathematics and probability. Furthermore, I enjoy problem solving and critical thinking. This past summer, I had the opportunity to intern as an actuary for Guardian Life Insurance Co. It was an amazing experience that allowed me to gain unique industry insight, get hands-on experience with true actuarial work, and allowed me to expand my network. Some other activities I enjoy in my free time are going running / working out, as well as watching movies with my friends.

David Chung

I enjoy pretty much anything outdoors – during the summer I like spend my time hiking, kayaking, swimming, and relaxing at the beach. A few hobbies I have are playing basketball, golfing, reading from time to time, and watching any tv shows that are binge worthy. I chose actuarial science because I like to challenge my problem-solving skills and as rigorous as this major is, it will always keep me on my toes, which is something I look forward to when it gets difficult. Ultimately for this school year, I’m excited to have the opportunity to meet new members in UAS!
